Day by Day

Your Itinerary

Arrive at the airport and receive a private transfer to your hotel in Arusha. Settle in and receive a briefing about the upcoming trek.

After breakfast, drive 1–2 hours to Momella Gate through the scenic Arusha National Park. Complete registration and begin your trek, escorted by an armed ranger for wildlife safety. Ascend through montane forests, spotting baboons, monkeys, and bird species, before reaching Miriakamba Hut.

  • Elevation: 1,500m – 2,500m

  • Distance: 6 km / 3.5 mi

  • Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

  • Habitat: Montane forest with baboons, hornbills, and forest birds

Trek through forest and moorland, gradually leaving tree cover behind. Enjoy views of the Meru Crater and take an optional acclimatization hike to Little Meru (3,810m) upon reaching Saddle Hut.

  • Elevation: 2,500m – 3,500m

  • Distance: 6 km / 3.5 mi

  • Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

  • Habitat: Moorland with buffalo and everlasting flowers

Begin your summit push at midnight, trekking over rocky gravel to Socialist Peak (4,562m). After sunrise summit celebrations, descend back through Saddle and Miriakamba Huts to Momella Gate. Complete park formalities, collect your summit certificate, and transfer to your hotel in Moshi.

  • Elevation: 3,500m – 4,562m – 1,500m

  • Distance: 28 km / 17 mi

  • Hiking Time: 14–15 hours

  • Habitat: Alpine desert, volcanic rock, and forest zones
